Personal devices can connect to the school wireless system via one of two WiFi networks, named GDST-Guests and GDST-BYOD . You will see these networks listed on your nearby WiFi connections.
GDST-Guests allows for quick and easy access, requiring periodic reconnection, usually every few days.
GDST-BYOD involves certificate and / or software installation onto devices. It allows for a permant connection to our WiFi for up to a year, without any periodic reconnection prompts.
Please note:
The use of VPNs is not allowed on our network. If VPN usage is detected, connection to the school WiFi networks may fail. Trust Office IT can automatically pickup on VPN usage and may disable those accounts that use them.
You will require device administrator (admin) access if you have a Windows or Apple Mac device and wish to connect to the GDST-BYOD WiFi network.
Please email servicedesk@rhsb.gdst.net if you require help connecting your device.
Connecting to the GDST-Guests WiFi network requires you to enter your school login details via a web login page. You will need to periodically re-enter your details to connect. Please ensure you have no active VPN and that your device is not randomising your IP address or masking / hiding your device's MAC address.
When you select the GDST-Guests WiFi network on your device, you will be taken to the GDST login screen in your default web browser (please see image below). On certain devices you may have to open your web browser and refresh or load a website for this to appear. You will then see the screen below, enter your school email address and password then select Login.
If your device connects to the GDST-Guests WiFi but does not present the login page, please go to http://guest-portal.gdst.net/ in your internet browser to force the GDST login page to appear.
Other URLs to try manually entering are:
1.1.1.1
If you have any difficulty accessing the school WiFi, please contact ICT Support.
Please see the video below for a step by step guide on how to connect to the GDST-Guests WiFi network.
The GDST-BYOD WiFi network allows personal devices to stay permanently connected to the school WiFi for up to a year, with no periodic reconnection process during that time.
Please see below three help guides for how to connect to the GDST-BYOD WiFi. Please note that steps and menus will vary, depending on your device. Chromebooks will need to continue using the GDST-Guests WiFi. Windows and Mac users will need to be administrators (admins) in order to install the required software involved in this process.
